Favorite Songs In March

Posted on Updated on

This month I started a new segment on my tumblog called “Favorite Song Friday”. On each Friday I posted one of my favorite songs that week. The song didn’t necessarily come out that week. I just posted the song that I was feeling that particular Friday. I’d like to share with you the songs I loved this month:
Favorite Song Friday – 3/6/15 – Wilder (We’re Chained) by Brandi Carlile
Brandi Carlile was the first concert I ever saw when I was 13. This week she released her newest album “The Firewatcher’s Daughter”. Eight years later and Brandi’s music still speaks to me – her folksy style, her honest lyrics, and her raw, beautiful voice. She’s still my favorite.

Favorite Song Friday – 3/13/15 –  Leaf Off/ The Cave by Jose Gonzalez

Gonzalez is one of the artists that will be at this year’s Sasquatch Music festival, a 4-day music festival in Washington that I will be attending. I had never heard his music until I was looking up Sasquatch artists and this particular song stood out to me. It’s chill, groovy and earthy.

Favorite Song Friday – 3/20/15 – Time Machine by Ingrid Michaelson

Is this really Ingrid???? I’m in love. Absolutely addicted to this song. So catchy. So fun. And that SAXOPHONE. STOP. It’s so good. Play it on repeat.

Favorite Song Friday – 3/27/15 – Psycho by Muse

Muse is back and it feels so good. This creepy song about training soldiers to be killing machines is fun to air-guitar, head bang, and pretend you’re moshing to without actually injuring yourself.
And finally, I’d like to share my FAVORITE SONG OF THE MONTH, which I actually posted the last week of February but has remained my favorite in March: Kindness be Conceived by Thao & The Get Down Stay Down feat. Joanna Newsom.
This month, this has been the song that keeps on giving. I can’t get over how amazing their strange voices sound together, how folksy and fun the tune is, how beautiful the words are and how the song builds and falls in the most lovely way. I’ve been playing this lovely ditty on repeat.
What are your favorite songs this month?
