My favorite things about May 2015!
05/16/15 ~College Graduation
It just needs to be said. I already wrote a whole post about it but this month I graduated from college! What a whirlwind.
05/22/15 – 05/25/15 ~ Sasquatch Music Festival

My good friend Cullen and I took to the beautiful Gorge Amphitheater to enjoy four days of music, sunshine, camping, people, and good times. We saw some incredible bands and just overall had a blast. I don’t think the weekend could have gone any better, besides the part where after 3 days of not using my phone I lost the camera I was using to capture the memories. Luckily, it was found in the lost and found so I’ll have to do a belated Sasquatch post with all the pictures. Until then, the highlights of my time there were the following bands: Mother Mother, Twenty One Pilots, Royal Blood, The Decemberists, St. Vincent, Robert Plant, and Lizzo. I’d love to make this weekend a tradition!
05/29/15 ~ Climbing a Mountain

After returning from flat Dallas I was itching to do something terribly Washingtonian. I think my mom was shocked when i told her I wanted to climb a mountain but she took  me to Mount Pilchuck and we traversed its slopes. My body was terribly unused to the altitude and the upward trek, but my lungs didn’t give out on me and the whole hike we enjoyed incredible views. I definitely want to take advantage of the Pacific Northwest nature as often as I can now that I’m home!
05/31/15 ~ College Graduation Party
grad party
My parents, bless their little parental hearts, threw me a wonderful little grad party with a GIANT TIRAMISU CAKE.(We all know how much I love cake). The party was small but vivacious. We had delicious food and drinks. I created a 7 hour long playlist so no songs were repeated and no bellies left empty! I’d love to throw another one but I guess I’d have to go back to school to do that…
My favorite book I read this month was The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison. Here’s my Goodreads review. Follow what I’m reading all year long on my Goodreads account!
5/5 stars: Heartbreaking. Stunning. Captivating. Poetic. SO HUMAN. SO RELATEABLE even in the parts I cannot relate to. Extremely empathetic. Absolutely visionary. The Bluest Eye is a phenomenal read. Toni Morrison is one of the greatest. I absolutely adored this book from start to finish.
TV Shows
I watched Marvel’s Agent Carter this month and absolutely fell in love.

The show focusses on SSR Agent Peggy Carter, post Captain America crash. She’s just lost the love of her life, the war is over, and now her energy is focused on her job as an agent, where she is essentially being treated like a secretary. But, like all badass women do, she finds a way to make her life hers and slowly proves her worth to the men who look down upon her. The show is led by a remarkable Hayley Atwell who shines fiercely. I love how the show recognizes Peggy’s amazingness without denying her flaws and without denying the patriarchal time period that she lives in (1940’s). I highly suggest it for any Marvel fans and just anyone in general who likes good television.
What TV show should I watch next?
I watched barely any movies this month but I did make it to the theatre for Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Joss Whedon has DONE IT AGAIN. I can’t say whether I like the first or second movie more: I think they’re both incredible. It doesn’t deny the superheros’ their humanity. They’re super and they’re flawed in all the wonderful perfect ways. The movie is serious and thought-provoking as well as light-hearted and laugh-out loud hilarious. Sure, it’s cleverly designed to be a huge selling blockbuster but I’m sincerely joyful they’ve put this much thought, talent, and heart into a Hollywood blockbuster. Marvel is doing great things and *hopefully* their movies will keep growing and getting more diverse!!!
This month again on my tumblog I chose a song every Friday for my “Favorite Song Friday”, a song that isn’t necessarily new, although it might be, just whatever spoke to me on that particular day. Here are my favorite Songs in May!
Favorite Song Friday 05/01/15 ~ Ex’s and Oh’s – Elle King

Been reeeeal obsessed with Elle King lately. And how could you not be? With a voice like whiskey and sass to last a century, this girl is gonna start tearing apart the world of music. She’s already begun. One of my favorite albums of the year so far: Love Stuff.

Favorite Song Friday 05/08/15 ~ Sober – Childish Gambino

My friends have been jamming to this one this week. Also the music video is just so good. This song makes me swaaaay and grooove like he does in the video.

Favorite Song Friday 05/15/15 ~ Get Out the Way – Mother Mother

Is it punk? Rock? Alt-pop? A mix of it all? Either way, the energy in this song is infectious. I’m like GET OUT THE WAY!!! WHY WERE YOU IN MY WAY TO BEGIN WITH???? And it feels so good.

Favorite Song Friday 05/22/15 ~ Pants Vs. Dress – Lizzo

This girl could take over the world. Saw her perform live and it was like a STAR WAS BORN. Go Lizzo!!

Tell me what I missed in May and what I should check out in June!
