Little Red with StoryBook Theater!

Posted on Updated on

This weekend I’m doing something that truly terrifies me: I’m swinging for Little Red with Storybook Theater!

If you look closely at the above picture, you’ll notice that Little Red (second to the left) is definitely NOT me. But this Saturday and next it WILL be me! I will be going on as Little Red in StoryBook Theater’s Little Red for 5 performances BUT I’ve only had two hours of rehearsal in the actual rehearsal room. The rest of the show I’ve self-taught myself using the script, videos the stage manager sent me, and notes taken during my brief hours of rehearsal.

I have been extremely diligent about my practising because who knows how different everything will feel when I’m doing the play with….well, other actors instead of with my mom reading every other character while I roller skate around my garage. (That’s right, I’ve also had to pick up roller-skating for the part!

I’m so scared but I’m also incredibly excited. I love to challenge myself. I accepted this part and opportunity knowing that it might stress me out to no end! I knew they were placing a lot of trust in me and that I’d have to be responsible and self-motivated to pull this off. I’m incredibly nervous but I’m hoping this weekend will be a “hard work pays off scenario” rather than an “enormous catapulting disaster” scenario.

I can’t see into the future so I have no idea how it will turn out, but either way I would love to see you there!

I will perform Little Red a total of 5 times: 2 performances this Saturday, the 14th at 11a.m. and 1p.m. at the Kirkland Performance Center and 3 performances next Saturday, the 21st at 11a.m., 1p.m. and 3p.m. at Hale’s in Fremont.

And if you miss me, it’s still a wonderful show and you should check out all the performance dates on the StoryBook Theatre website!

I’m shaking in my boots (or skates). As another Little Red once said I’m excited and scared!
