Sarah and I met up with the express intent of recording a cover song together. The song? Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby”. But, as usually happens when we start to do stuff together, the song morphed. It started with a joke about how halfway through we should break into “Love Shack”. This mostly gave us a good laugh but also slightly made us entertain the idea. Then we thought, no one really likes the bridge of a song anyway, why don’t we replace the bridge with another song? Then we thought as hilarious as “Love Shack” is, what if, instead, we chose a song that was about breaking up with someone instead of always being together? That way, the new mash-up would be the ultimate break-up heartbreak song about never getting back together with someone who you’ll always love. Taylor Swift’s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” needed a slight key change and BAM fit perfectly into our song. We hope you enjoy!
